Can I pause my membership?

Yes. A pause stops billing completely, holds your spot, and keeps your loyalty benefits intact while you're away, whether that's for injury or medical reasons, pregnancy or parental leave, redundancy, compassionate circumstances, or a Loyalty Travel/Holiday pause if you qualify.

What a pause actually does

  • Billing stops entirely: no holding fee, and any part-paid month is credited
  • Your spot is held for short-term pauses (up to 6 weeks)
  • Loyalty benefits are retained, though they don't keep accruing while paused
  • Cancelling, by contrast, resets loyalty to zero if you rejoin later

Injury or medical

Talk to a coach first: training adaptations or a lower-cost Rehab membership (reduced classes and Open Gym access, up to 2 months) cover a lot of cases without a full pause.

If you do need to stop entirely, the pause is a minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 6 weeks, and you'll need a written Fit to Return note (from a GP, physio, osteopath or chiropractor) before restarting.

A Fit to Return is a written note from a GP, consultant, physio, or other treating health professional confirming you’re safe to resume training. It’s required before reactivating after a medical or injury pause. Members can self-certify if they don’t obtain a Fit to Return but this does reset continuous membership benefits.

Pregnancy or parental leave

Maternity leave: up to 12 months. Paternity leave: up to 6 months. Loyalty is held in both cases.

Redundancy

Up to 6 months, loyalty held.

Compassionate circumstances

Reviewed case by case, so get in touch and we'll talk it through.

Travel or holiday (Loyalty benefit)

General travel isn't a pause reason on its own, but if you've been a continuous member for 2+ years you get up to 2 weeks a year; 4+ years, up to 4 weeks a year, taken in 1-week blocks and resetting annually. See loyalty benefits.

Just training less for now?

A downgrade to a lower-frequency membership might suit better than a full pause. See change my membership.

How to request one

Email Member Support (or your home gym) with your reason and dates, plus any supporting evidence if relevant. Pauses can't be backdated: they start from the date we receive your request.

Longer than 6 weeks

Your membership moves to a long-term pause and your spot is released. You're welcome to rejoin when you're ready, though you may land on a waitlist depending on availability. A Fit to Return is still required for Long-Term Pauses and if a member self-certifies this will reset their continuous membership term.
